Carina Capone b.1998
Gallery Manager at Little Yellow Studio Collective 2021-2025
Director of the Luxury Item Project 2020-2022
Member of YawwaY Artist Run Initiative 2019-2022
Carina Capone is an emerging Sydney artist. She holds a BFA from the National Art School and a Graduate Certificate in Sustainability from University of Sydney.
In her practice, Carina works primarily with clay to form ceramic and sculptural objects. She engages with intersectional themes of womanhood, connection to nature, Gaia theory, climate fears, mental health, sexuality and trauma.
Carina disregards a disciplinarian approach to medium or theme in favour of a adaptive making, centering on creating functional objects for personal and ritual use, her themes are solution-oriented rather than predetermined. Many of her projects search for hope, purpose, connection and community to deny the overwhelming weight of our epoch.
Carina advocates for a feminist approach in addressing the unfolding challenges of the Anthropocene. She embraces the non-linear, multifaceted, and at times contradictory, identities women develop to survive and thrive in late-stage neo-liberal capitalism.
